Good Evening CMHS Parents, Caregivers, Students and Guardians,

Congratulations to all of our CTC and CMHS competitors who represented our school at the Skills Alberta Provincial Competition in Edmonton! It was an exciting three days filled with outstanding performances, teamwork, creativity, and professionalism. Competition was incredibly close in many categories, sometimes with less than half a point separating placements, making our students’ accomplishments even more impressive.

In order by trade category, congratulations to: 2D Animation – Lily L. and Kyla U. (Silver); 3D Animation – Charlotte H. and James P. (Bronze); Auto Body Repair – Marlow T. (Gold), Amelia D. (Silver), Isaac T. (5th), and Aidan F. (6th); Car Painting – Addison L. (Gold) and Eva T. (4th); Culinary Arts – Joseph S. (9th); Fashion Technology – Ross J. (4th); Hairstyling Intermediate – Eva R. (10th); Hairstyling Junior – Meaghan W. (5th); Mechanical CADD – Sebastian A. (4th and recipient of the Safety Award) and Daniel D. (5th); and Welding – Halen H. (13th).

A special congratulations to Marlow T. and Addison L., who will now represent Team Alberta at the National Skills Competition in Toronto!

The preparation, mentorship, and dedication required to compete at this level are extraordinary. Thank you to our teachers and instructors whose expertise and commitment continue to create exceptional opportunities for students year after year. Integrating skilled trades and career education into Alberta’s school systems is a vital investment in our province’s future. It helps address labour shortages, supports economic diversification, and provides students with meaningful, high-paying, debt-free career pathways. With many experienced tradespeople expected to retire in the coming years, the programs offered at CMHS play a critical role in developing the next generation's workforce in so many sectors.

The Calgary Board of Education continues to work closely with industry partners to build strong trade networks and authentic learning opportunities that actively engage students and promote the skilled trades as first-choice careers. CMHS looks forward to continuing and strengthening this important work alongside our valued industry partners.

Have a wonderful long weekend.
