Good Evening CMHS Parents, Caregivers, Students, and Guardians,

As I shared during my remarks at graduation, I want to once again offer a heartfelt thank you to all the parents, grandparents, guardians, aunts, uncles, family members, teachers, coaches, counsellors, and supportive adults who helped bring our graduates to this moment. Adolescents need strong, dependable adults in their lives. They need rules, accountability, patience, encouragement, and people willing to listen sincerely, even during difficult moments.

Raising teenagers is no small task. To every supportive adult who has invested time, energy, love, and guidance into the lives of our graduates, thank you.

While graduation ceremonies provide an opportunity to celebrate, they also serve as a reminder that there is still important work ahead. To our Grade 12 students: stay focused and finish strong. There are still academic responsibilities to be completed.

As we move through the final weeks of the school year, I also ask that families have conversations with their young adults about appropriate end-of-year behaviour and decision-making.

Senior or graduation pranks are unacceptable because they often cross the line from harmless fun into costly vandalism, safety concerns, and disruptions to learning. They frequently create additional work for custodial and maintenance staff, demonstrating a lack of respect for the individuals who work hard every day to maintain our school. Pranks can also negatively impact individual students, school operations, and the overall climate of our school community.

Our administrative team will enforce school expectations and policies regarding any prank-related activities. Actions that compromise safety, damage property, or interfere with the learning environment will not be tolerated.

More importantly, graduation should be remembered as a time of celebration, gratitude, and pride. Completing more than twelve years of education is a significant accomplishment and deserves to be marked in a positive and respectful way. As adults, we share the responsibility of sending a consistent message that choices made during this time should reflect the character, maturity, and respect we hope our graduates carry forward into their futures.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Together, we can ensure these final weeks of the school year remain joyful, memorable, and focused on celebrating the accomplishments of our students.

Enjoy your weekend.

Anne Kromm, Principal
